About Camp Powhatan
The larger of the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation’s two base camps, Camp Powhatan is the hub of traditional summer camp activity. In addition to familiar program areas such as Nature, Handicraft, Waterfront, Shooting Sports, and Scoutcraft, Powhatan also offers unique merit badge experiences for first-year campers, Scouts working on their Eagle, and those interested in STEM.

Whether in creekside sites, hilltop sites with a mountain view, or adirondack shelters, Powhatan can accommodate troops of any size.
Aquatic activities in our beautiful mountain lake range from fishing and boating to swimming and even a thrilling jump from the lifeguard tower onto (and a blast off of) “The BLOB”!
From the “Cowboy Action Shooting” western-themed open shooting range, to movie nights, nature shows, open swim, day trips to visit our other camps, and ATV adventures, you’ll have to come every week all summer to experience it all!
With summer high’s in the mid-80’s and overnight lows in the low 60’s, the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation is perfect for warm days in the mountains and on the water, and cool nights in a hammock under the stars!
